Dr Felicity Baker
Felicity Baker graduated as a music therapist from The University of Melbourne in 1992. Since then she has completed a Master in Music Therapy (1999, UniMelb) and a PhD (2004, Aalborg University, Denmark). She worked as a clinician in neurorehabilitation for 8 years in Melbourne establishing the first post in music therapy for traumatic brain injury. Later she took up an appointment at the music therapy education program at Hogskulen i Sogn og Fjordane, Norway.
In 2002, she took up the appointment as head of music therapy training at The University of Queensland.
Felicity has over 20 refereed publications in all the main music therapy publications and 6 interdisciplinary journals including prestigious journals such as "Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties", "Brain Injury", and "Brain Impairment". She is also the co-editor of Song Writing Methods, Techniques and Clinical Applications for Music Therapy Clinicians, Educators
and Students (2005).
Felicity has collaborated with a number of music therapy clinicians/researchers and other allied health researchers on a range of research projects, she has been awarded a number of research grants and was one of 14 finalists in the 2005 UQ Research Excellence Awards.
She is currently Editor of The Australian Journal of Music Therapy, and on the Editorial Board of The Nordic Journal of Music Therapy. Felicity has been active within AMTA serving on the National Council for many years including executive roles. At present, Felicity is completing a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education due to be completed later this year.
